Follow Up Consultation
(1-6 months)

Sometimes our medical experts will want just to keep an eye on a mole – to avoid any unnecessary surgery on a low risk lesion.  In this case, their location and status will be saved onto your customised body diagram. We recommend an annual skin check.

After each visit, updated images will be carefully compared to keep track of size, colour and shape.  If there are any concerns, we may ask you to return for a follow-up check in a month or two so we can monitor the lesion in question. If the mole or lesion turns out to evolving in a dangerous way, we can still take whatever treatment steps are necessary, but with more certainty.

As always, our objective is to reassure you and help you maintain your health.

Full Body Mole Check Imaging and Skin Lesion Consultation

This appointment is a skin lesion consultation, either up to 5 moles of concern and unlimited as well as full body imaging.

Sometimes our doctors will be concerned about a specific mole or lesion. But If this happens, the first thing our team will do is talk through the various treatment options, offering reassurance and a recommendation. This may be a biopsy, cryotherapy, prescribing a cream or in some cases, full removal.

Minor procedures take place on-site, often immediately after the consultation. More complicated procedures may need to be referred to a specialist and may even need to be done under general anaesthetic at a local hospital. This also applies if required by your insurance policy. At all times, our focus will be on your comfort and minimising the disruption to your life.

Here’s a more detailed explanation of our treatments:

This is where we apply liquid nitrogen to a specific area to burn off sun spots and other lesions. We can also use cryotherapy to treat some mild forms of skin cancer, as well as to remove some warts and skin tags. We’ll usually ask you to come back so we can make sure the lesion has disappeared. Occasionally a number of successive treatments may be needed to fully eradicate the lesion. Cryotherapy is straightforward and quick, with minimal discomfort.

Mole Removal

Sometimes we’ll want to completely excise or remove a mole or lesion. To keep you comfortable, we’ll use a local anaesthetic to numb the area for the procedure. Then the wound will be stitched and covered with a waterproof dressing. We’ll also help you understand how to take care of the area as it heals. Again, we’ll ask you to come back so we can check the wound, remove stitches and ensure the area is fully healed and no further treatment needed.

This is a simple procedure where a small part of a lesion or mole is removed then sent for testing. This is a less-complicated alternative to full excision (removal) of a mole if it’s too large to be easily removed completely. If we’re concerned about cosmetic scarring, or if the mole is in an awkward location such as on the face, hands or feet. We’ll let you know the findings from the lab and welcome you back for a follow-up visit to remove stitches and talk through any further treatment that’s needed.

On rare occasions, we’ll need to look after you via a more complicated procedure that needs specialist care. Significant cosmetic repairs, scar repair and skin reconstruction (including skin grafts) and advanced skin cancer removal are provided by our in-house specialist skin surgeon.
